Paintings
I have been drawing since I could hold a pencil, or probably longer, I guess wax crayons must have come first!
I have been painting on and off for years, but it was a partially accidental move to abstraction that has fired my enthusiasm.
Watercolours have tremendous vibrancy, and mixing wet on wet on the paper results in textural effects which give great depth and interest.
It is these qualities that I am currently exploring, and exploiting. These abstract paintings are assembled from individually painted rectangles, each of which may contain as many as eight separate pigments to achieve the desired vibrancy, depth of colour and textural qualities.
These are then arranged and re-arranged, with more rectangles being painted until I am happy with the design that has evolved. The rectangles are applied then to a ground.
Some of the original paintings are available,
and most are reproduced as archive quality Giclee prints in signed limited editions of ninety-five, on 310 gram paper.
